My love for health and community has led me to a full-time career in Recreation. Yoga found me at a (perfect, but) fragile time in my life and has completely transformed how I live. I began teaching yoga in 2016 after receiving Manitoba Fitness Council Certification and graduated from my 200hr Yoga Teacher Training in 2020. My intention is to guide all students of yoga in a way that allows them to leave the mat in a better place than when they arrived. I wish for my students to be present, to feel held, and most importantly, to have fun! I am here to assist you in finding whatever you are looking for when you step onto your mat.
I discovered Yoga 10 years ago while working as a human resource consultant. I was searching for a practice that was meditative and focused on the present moment. Self-love, kindness and non-judgement are dear to me. I feel peace every time I step onto my yoga mat I retired 2 years ago and wanted to pursue my dream of instructing a yoga class. This dream came true when I completed my 200hr Yoga Teacher Training in 2020. Now I am here, ready to share my dream of yoga and meditation with you.
My happy place other than my yoga mat is out riding my horse, surrounded by nature. I am a Registered Nurse on a Behavioural Treatment Unit for acute dementia and also a farmwife. My yoga practice has been on and off for about a decade, and more consistent in the last 5 years. My goal is to find balance and maintain my activity level with horses, on the farm and in my work life. My particular areas of interest in yoga are restorative, yin, chair yoga and meditation; any practice that acknowledges the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual benefits of yoga. I believe that anyone can practice yoga, no matter what challenges they may encounter. I am excited to be on this yoga journey with you.
Yoga has been a part of my life for over 10 years. With an extensive background in fitness, I found that as I aged, it was taking longer to recover from workouts because I was not taking enough time to stretch and recover. My Yoga practice has helped me grow stronger, more flexible and more mindful, both on and off the mat. In my classes, I love to combine creative sequencing, a spirit of playfulness and a dose of inspiration to help you deepen your practice. I seek to help others thrive in life by nurturing body, mind and soul with yoga, and my hope is that you step off the mat feeling refreshed, nourished and balanced.
After my first yoga class in 2007, I felt so good physically and emotionally, that I have been practicing ever since. As a Registered Nurse who works long shift work, the practice of yoga and meditation gives me permission to relax. Yoga returns me to my body, clears my head and allows me to be more present in the moment. When I breathe with awareness, I am able to consciously reduce my stress and feel more calm and centered. I love how grounded I feel during Savasana, especially after an energizing movement class. Yoga has been a pillar in my mental and physical well-being, I am truly grateful to have discovered it. My intention as a teacher is to extend the same sense of rejuvenation, relaxation and peace that I feel on my yoga mat, to you.
In 2015 I began implementing yoga into my life as a physical practice, but what came about my journey was so much more than that! Ever since then, my mat has been a safe space, a place of discovery, and a place for growth. After graduating from my 200hr Yoga Teacher Training in 2020, I further deepened my practice and connected with many yogis and yoga teachers across the globe. I am also an Education student at Brandon University and hope to implement mindfulness into my classroom in the future. My highest joy is to create a space where we can connect back to ourselves through mindful movement, breathwork, and sound! You can expect elements of creativity and expression in our classes together, along with a strong backbone of traditional asanas and deep breaths!
I welcomed yoga into my life in 2009, starting solely as a physical practice. Through growth and self awareness, a shift happened and my perspective of yoga transformed into that of a more holistic approach: awareness of the mind, body, soul and spirit. I have found that through yoga, I have been able to reconnect with myself again following the births of my children. Yoga has allowed for freedom and creativity of movement within my own body, and has been a wonderful mindfulness tool to manage my anxiety. I have a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy, completed my 200hr Yoga Teacher Training and 85hr Perinatal Training, and in 2021 I founded La Fleur Yoga. I am so excited to share this practice with you, and to ignite the spark within you that connects you to yourself. My teaching approach is gentle, soft and mindful, with a focus of alignment, breath and core connection. You will leave my class feeling connected and rested.
